Background Note: Samuel Bucknam was born in Falmouth ME in April 1812 and resided in various locations in New England, earning his living as a seafarer, grocer, and farmer. He moved to Grinnell in October 1874. His ledger records business transactions and household expenses though 1889. (Included in the back is a cure for asthma.)
