Summary: After graduating from Grinnell High School, Rudolph Renfrow continued his education at Hampton Institute in Virginia, where he was a part of the committee of students responsible for the 1927 student strike. These strikes protested against Hampton Principal Dr. James E. Gregg and other white administrators for caving to segregationist sentiments, tolerating effective teachers, and demanding blind obedience from students. Rudolph then lived in D. C, where he joined the New Negro Alliance, worked at Investors Syndicate, joined the U.S. Army, and married twice.
