Summary: George H. White, after serving as a Christian missionary in Turkey, worked as a pastor of the Chester Congregational Church before settling in Grinnell until his death. White’s children, George and Susan, then commissioned in 1912 a set of stained glass windows to honor their father’s, and this art can still be seen in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The younger George White then returned to Turkey to work at Anatolia College, where he was witness to the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
