Summary: Kaiser investigates the murder of a stranger by Grinnell resident Frank Raleigh in June, 1914. While the victim has never been identified, based upon the objects on his person, Kaiser supposes that he did not have money or a place to stay, and he may have been a gambler. Based upon testimony of eyewitnesses of the time, Raleigh thought his victim was a perpetrator of “white slavery,” a term common in Iowa at the time.
