Background Note: The Poweshiek Chapter of Democratic Women’s Activities acted as an a affiliate of the Iowa organization. The collection consists of the treasurer’s book for the period from April 1956 through December 1975 and includes membership lists and itemized expenditures. Among the group’s activities were bake sales, purchases of campaign materials, and preparation for social events. The chapter published a cook book, Invitation to Better Eating, as a fundraiser in 1965. (Copy in Collection #29, Cookbooks: Grinnell Area and Poweshiek County.)

Bonnie Tiedemann acted as secretary during most of this period. Information is limited as the records were deposited in the book drop, and the Poweshiek County Democratic Party has no additional records.
