Summary: Kaiser pieces together a biography of Mary Aikin, who was convicted in 1898 for performing an abortion on Myrtle Noble. She died in confinement shortly after this imprisonment. While many details of her life are uncertain, Aiken was sympathetic to the Anarchist cause, and she was one of only two female doctors in Grinnell at the time. Why Myrtle Noble sought out an abortion is also unclear.
