Drake Library Archive Digital File Name: Grinnell Stories/2017-05-06 When the Liberty Bell visited Grinnell
Summary: The Liberty Bell made multiple long journeys across the United States in the early twentieth century, and the last trip in 1915 stopped in Grinnell for ten minutes. After the Liberty Bell left Grinnell, the town then conducted a “Liberty and Peace Pageant” with many local residents and organizations aimed at keeping the United States out of World War I. Coverage of the day focused more on the pageant than the Bell’s visit.
