Summary: Born in State Center, Iowa, Frank - nicknamed “Red” or “Reddy” – began his success as a sprinter at the Iowa State Normal School where he was named the “the greatest college sprinter in Iowa” in 1905. He earned a spot on the American Olympic Track and Field team in 1908 and won the London Olympics gold medal for 200-meter dashes. His peak performances now behind him, Frank got his M.D. from University of Louisville in 1911 and continued his medical practice in Iowa.
