Background Note: Plans for the proposed improvements of the City of Grinnell’s urban road system were designed by Veenstra & Kim, Inc. in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation, with a letting date of April 19, 2005. Plans included the replacement of streets and sidewalks with the inclusion of decorative elements, and the installation of planters and benches in the downtown area. The completion of the initial part of the reconstruction plan was marked with a celebration on July 8, 2006.
