Summary: While a professor at Grinnell College during the early 20th century, Henry Conard developed and maintained the Grinnell College Botanic Garden in the plot bordered by Sixth Avenue, State Street, Fifth Avenue, and the railroad. Following financial difficulties and the departure of Conard, the plot eventually became the current site of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Includes an overview of the variety of plants grown in the Botanic Garden.
