Background Note: The Union of Grinnell Student Dining Workers (UGSDW) was formed in 2016. This collection contains articles from the Grinnell College newspaper the Scarlet & Black, national coverage of the Grinnell student workers’ unionization efforts, social media posts from UGSDW including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and statements and communication from the UGSDW website, spanning the years 2016 – 2022. In 2022, USGDW won the right to expand the union to all student workers at Grinnell College, thus making the college the most unionized undergraduate campus in the United States.
