General note
The Career Services Office initiated the internship program in 1977. It was an off-shoot of the legislative internship program directed by Ed Gilmour of the Political Science Department. The program allowed a junior or senior to earn four credits (or up to 8 credits in the summer) by working for a public agency or public or private organization or individual. The student performed under a "learning contract" executed by the student, the faculty advisor, and work supervisor. The student was reuired to keep a daily journal and prepare a final report.
