General note

Most of the correspondence deals with fund raising. The papers came to the Archives in letter boxes, on box per year, arranged alphabetically by correspondent. College treasurers (the title varies) during the period covered in the series were: Horace H. Robbins, '69, 1887-1906 (Trustee 1890-1906); H. W. Somers, '82, 1907-1919; Louis Phelps, 1919-1949 (and Secretary of the Grinnell College Foundation 1917-ca. 1954).
