A temporary building, "rebuilt barracks", obtained from government surplus through the Federal Security Agency of the U. S. Department of Education. Plumbing and heating architect was Dougher, Rich & Woodburn, contractor was Weitz Co., both of Des Mines. Weitz moved two units, one of 1 story, the other of 2 stories, from Sioux City Air Base. A third building was allotted for salvage of lumber. The building opened fall of 1947 with the student union on the first floor, faculty offices and 7 classrooms on the second floor. It was replaced by the Forum in 1963.
