Background Note:

James McNally was born in Grinnell. His father, Chris, started his own grocery store, McNally’s, that later was operated by Jim and his brother Edward. Jim’s hobby was collecting photographs, and this collection represents the bulk of his collection. In the 1980s, when the Groths were renovating Mc’Nally’s grocery store, they used some of the photographs from the McNally collection, greatly enlarged, as part of the wall decoration. Jim was married to Vera.

These photos have all been digitized and are available in Staff Docs/Digital Archives/PHOTO McNally Collection

They are also all available in Digital Grinnell.
