Background Note: James Otis Davis (Ote or Oat) of Lynnville and Jennie Christopher Davis of Grinnell married on April 12, 1902 and farmed a 50-acre plot in Section 16 of Sugar Creek Township until 1948. The collection consists of Ote’s diaries of life on the farm and Jennie’s detailed financial ledgers as well as her diaries of her medical events and her membership in the Hillcrest Garden Club in Searsboro. Ote died in 1948 and Jennie in 1950; both are buried in the Friends Cemetery in Lynnville.
