Younker Endowment and properties
Consists of some of the history of the two pieces of commercial property in the heart of Des Moines (307-309-311 Walnut St., northwest corner of Walnut and Fifth and 712-20 Mulberry, corner of 8th) from ca. 1895-1958. The property came to Grinnell college as part of the Younker Endowment in 1942.
Consists of the 1905 lease between Charles Good and Simon Casady for 503-505 Walnut St., Des Moines (typed copy) and 1942 establishment of endowment by Benjamin, Lytton, and Rachel Younker (typed copy).
Consists of B. A. Younker correspondence with tenants J. C. Penney Co. and Green Co. Papers in this folder originally in a folder labeled "Dec. 17, 1943. These letters were handed to LVP by Mr. B. A. Younker on the above date at 3333 Grand Ave. Des Moines. L.V.P" (LVP is Louis. V. Phelps)
