General note
General Education Board was founded by John D. Rockefeller in 1902 and was located in New York. The Board in 1920 pledged a gift to the college of $500,000 on condition that the college pay all of its debts by 1930 and raise one million dollars. The purpose was to add one and one half million dollars to the college endowment to raise teachers' salaries.
