Background Note: The Tuesday Club was founded in 1898. Among the original members were Mrs. J.H.T. Main, Mrs. B.J. Ricker, and Mrs. W.G. Ray. Membership is limited to 20 with an inactive list for those who are temporarily unable to participate and an honorary list for members of more than 25 years. Meetings are held every two weeks during the club
year.

Programs consist of book reviews, reports on hobbies and civic problems, travelogues, music, and guest speakers. On occasion members were entertained by their husbands. Contributions have been made to many charities and public causes, among them the hospital, Uncle Sam’s Club, and the Social Services League. During World War II, members made kit bags for those in the Armed Services. It was the Tuesday Club that first suggested the idea of the Grinnell Historical Museum.
