Summary: Kaiser investigates the story behind a jar of blueberries that supposedly survived the devastating 1882 cyclone. He is able to verify that the donor of the jar must have been Frank Pearce, whose mother, Delia Pearce, brought the jar to Grinnell to be given to her sister, Cornelia Pitman, and her sister’s husband, Henry Pitman. Kaiser also includes descriptions of the aftermath of the cyclone, and is not able to conclude that the jar specifically survived the disaster.
