The collection consists of photocopies of letters and business papers of Horace Alanson Wolcott. Wolcott lived briefly in Grinnell about 1856 then moved to Boulder probably in the early or mid 1860s, and corresponded with people in Grinnell. Papers selected for photocopying are those relating to his Grinnell connections.  Correspondents include: Marshall Bliss of Bliss Crosby Mill, Grinnell; S. H. Bliss; Julia Grinnell; Lucy Bixby (mother of Louisa Wolcott); Samuel Cooper; S. Bixby

The collection consists of a newspaper clipping, concert notice, daybook, 77 photographs and negatives of the Womens' Glee Club trip to California in 1912.  The photos are not labeled.

Consists of 1973 faculty Christmas letter sent by the Alumni Office and 27 responses received by Liberman. Most comment on the May 1970 closing of the college.

Typed script for Mad With Joy or "A Guilty Thing Surprized”, Chronicle in Two Acts. 80 pages.

The collection contains correspondence between Macy and several people from the 1870s to 1919, including a letter from Woodrow Wilson thanking Macy for a gift and for his congratulations on the 1910 New Jersey gubernatorial election. There are a number of miscellaneous family documents, Macy’s diary from 1864-65 in Savannah, Georgia, and sixty letters of tribute at the time of Macy’s death.

The collection consists of a letter from Chekhov’s sister, a replica of Chekhov’s letter (November 2, 1903) to Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko (co-founder of the Moscow Art Theatre), and a note (June 14, 1985) from Kennan explaining the provenance of the Chekhov letter. Also included are photocopies in Russian.

Books of the Middle Ages is a 20-leaf, typewritten manuscript.  The leaves have simple borders, one set inside the other by one inch.  Between the two borders are hand-drawn decorations of plant and animal life that are subtly water colored.  The manuscript is bound in a heavy-weight paper and is tied along the spine with a ribbon.

These papers are notes, reminiscences, and correspondence of Norris regarding science clubs, science teachers, and presidents of Grinnell College.

These papers include typed and handwritten manuscript copies of Kemmerer’s poems, stories, and reminiscences, most of which were unpublished.

Studio photographs of 19 members of Grinnell College class of 1894 including Josiah Bushnell Grinnell, the namesake of the town founder, and one photograph of Alice Dunham Hannay, class of 1893. Also included are short reminiscences written by Marian Dunham regarding Josiah B. Grinnell, Arthur C. Lyon, Dr. Pearl Somers, and Garrett P. Wyckoff, members of the class of 1894. Photographs are identified as: Benjamin F. Arnold, Charles E. Arnold, Geneva A. Bigelow, Harry L. Brown, John Peet Clyde, William R. Gelston, Josiah B. Grinnell, Charles W. Hackler, Joseph H. Consists of 19 holograph sheets of memoirs that are undated but were probably written not many years before coming to the Archives.

Consists primarily of articles and photographs pertaining to the restoration of the L.S.T. 325.

The Fraker collection of postcards consists of approximately 7,000 cards, depicting 501 Iowa cities and towns. The cancellation dates on the postcards range from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1960’s, although most cards date from circa 1910. The collection is arranged alphabetically. All towns with two or more cards are filed individually, while towns with only one card are filed at the beginning of their letter group. In box 17, there are several miscellaneous cards, including book cards, military cards, and unidentifiable cards. The book postcards of Iowa feature either towns or the state as a whole. There are also several postcards from military institutions across the United States. The unidentifiable cards are handmade, but were never sent through the mail and do not indicate their town. These cards depict a wide range of subjects, including people, homes, and businesses.

There are also approximately 1,200 postcards of Des Moines, as well as 1,000 views of Davenport. In addition, Ottumwa has three postcards of double length that portray panoramic views of the city. These are in box 14.

There are two scrapbooks in the manuscript collection; one is of the county courthouses of Iowa and the second is filled with postcards from Des Moines. These are both located at the end of the collection.

The collection consists primarily of printed materials, and a few letters of correspondence. Gershom Hyde or James Langdon Hill authored the bulk of the collection. Most of their works are in the form of pamphlets, small books, and occasionally typed manuscripts.
