Student Academic Projects: Alumni History Project

Professor David Jordan organized and directed the project to gather historical information about the college, with special focus on alumni and the influence of Grinnell College on their lives. Students in Mr Jordan's seminars researched college history and conducted oral interviews with alumni who were within geographical areas interveiwers could reach or who came to alumni reunions. This collection consists of the tapes as well as typed transcripts of these interviews arranged alphabetically by alumni names.

Student Government Association (SGA)

Members of the SGA transferred papers to the Archives at various times beginning in 1989. Generally the papers were in random order, many undated, in which case they are filed with adjacent papers. Some items may, thererfore, be incorrectly placed; this could be corrected by checking dates when events mentioned in the papers occurred, dates when named people (if any) were enrolled. The collection is arranged in approximate chronological order and by subject with original folder labels (plus dates) where possible.

Student Organization for Latinxs (SOL)

SOL Mission Statement: To address the specialized needs of all Latino students by providing referrals, creating resource, developing leadership training, and supporting their unique cultural and social needs.
Their name was formerly Student Organization of Latinos/Latinas.

Student Publications & Radio Committee (SPARC)

SPARC oversees student publications and operations of the campus radio station. It serves under the President of the College and is comprised of students, faculty, and ex-officio members functioning in an advisory capacity. The committee is responsible for hiring media staff, budgeting, and oversight of daily media operations. Provenance: Brent Dexter, Chair of SPARC, after consultation with Dean of Students.
