Foster Christian Rinefort Jr. has a B.A. from Grinnell College in History & Business Administration, class of 1956. He also earned subsequent degrees at California State University, San Francisco and Texas A&M University. He grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He was active in track while at Grinnell. He left school before his senior year to complete his military service, but returned to finish his senior year.
