Staff Council

The Staff Council, serving in an advisory role to the President, will examine issues related to staff members and encourage a balanced perspective and the open exchange of information. Its primary charge is to support the professional well-being of Grinnell College staff members while contributing to the College's mission.​

Iowa College was founded in Davenport, Iowa in 1846, by a group of ministers from Andover Seminary. This group of eleven misters called themselves The Iowa Band. The college opened its doors in 1848, admitted its first students in 1850, and graduated its first two students in 1854. The college relocated to Grinnell, Iowa, in 1858 and reopened its doors in 1861. The name of the college changed to Grinnell College in 1909.

Davies, Wes

Wes Davies, originally from Maywood, IL, graduated from Grinnell College in 1940 with a B.A. in History, and an education and political science minor. He married Dorothy Ziegenmeyer, a local Grinnellian and a member of the Class of 1939. After Grinnell, they lived in Alexandria, Virginia.
